Evensong

I listen to the chorus of crickets outside my window as the evening settles in. The sky is clouding sporadically, although nothing threatening. The temperature dips a bit as the sun's warmth fades with the light.

I await the arrival of my oldest friend and her eldest daughter as they are driving up from Texas to come visit her mum who fell last Sunday and fractured a hip. Given that the old one has Alzheimers and possibly cancer, treatment options are limited to keeping her comfortable and possibly saying a final goodbye. My heart goes out to them all.

This is the first weekend I have not been at the Man of Steel's in many weeks. It feels a bit odd. I can honestly say I miss his company.

I was able to walk one of my regular routes today with minimal shoulder discomfort. That's a first in almost 4 weeks. And it felt very good to be out and moving again. My activity level has been rather stagnant since the repair job.

  1. Glad you're getting out some...which means maybe you're finally winning over the pain?

Sorry about your friend's family woes and your lack of proper man company. Hopefully things will be back to "normal" soon.

  2. Hope: I've actually been out lots, just not able to go for my brisk walks up until now. Hopefully this is the start of that becoming a daily thing again. The pain is slowly decreasing, although nights are still often bad. Thanks re: my friend's mum and also re: my lack of man company.

  5. Awww...honey. Sad news about your friend's mum. Hard times for her. At least you are there to give her lots of hugs (if she likes hugs).

Good to hear about your brisk walk. Your shoulder just needs time, the muscle will rebuild, you know it will. Your determination to be fit and well will mean, it'll happen.

    You'll see your man soon?

  6. My heart goes out to your friend and her mother. life seems so unfair sometimes.
Good news that you are progressing well and taking time to appreciate your surroundings.

  7. PS. Your activity levels since undergoing a general anesthetic and a shoulder operation have been: healing.

It's not like you've been lazing about woman. Good grief.

  8. Do you see that! You're on the mend! You should be at 100% just in time to shovel snow.

  9. Roses: I've hugged lots and told her I love her. And yes, I get to see the Man of Steel this evening... all four of us are going out for dinner so he gets to meet my friend and her daughter... and they get to check him out too! ;-)

Pat: Life is unfair, but that's the way it rolls and they are dealing with it as best they can. I'm rolling along too, slowly but surely. Thanks!

Roses again: I did not have a general anasthetic... just a nerve block and little bit of sedation. But yeah, I have been healing and am continuing to do so. It's just frustrating that it has to be so slow!

    Map: Thanks! xoxoxo :-)

UB: Bite your tongue, man!!! I'll not hear talk of snow until December, thankyouverymuch. And now that I live in an apartment, I don't have to shovel it!

So you have something to say about all this, do you?
Well, let's hear it, then!
