Aching Hearts

My dear friend, Mapstew, recently lost his older sister, Helen.

This month, on the 19th, marks the fourth anniversary of the tragic accidental death of my own eldest sister.

This song, for me, relays a bit of the importance of Laurel in my life, the impact she had, and the love that she shared.

Two truly magnificent women have left voids in the lives of many but remain forever encompassed in our hearts.

  2. Hi Ponita,

I read Jimmy's post earlier and I just read Map's; I am without words. These past few days I've seen sorrow, sadness and grief stare at me and those I care about.

You're my sister and friend and I love you. I know when I struggle, I can always talk to you. The memory of Laurel's life lives on through you. Knowing you will allow me to learn about her life.

    U

  3. How very very sad.
It's difficult to find words to say.
I hope you enjoy/ed Thanksgiving - as you know we don't get it here.

  4. Sometimes, U, the sorrow can seem overwhelming. I've been through that too many times in my life and know that it will happen again. It's inevitable as you get older.

But having friends in the RW and here in Cyberspace... friends who really care... means there is always someone to talk to, to get a hug from, to lean on.

Kaz, Thanksgiving dinner is at my sister's today and I've two luscious pumpkin pies in my fridge right now. I love getting together with family! We always have a blast.

Sadness doesn't have a chance to linger long when you are surrounded by love and laughter.

    Map.... *sigh* XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO

  5. I'm sorry I'm not there to hug you tonight princess. At least our little group has each other to look after and care for each other.

Tonight there are many empty bar stools set aside for those people who are in our hearts if not our view. I raise a glass to those we love.

  6. Ah, dear sweet Jimmy... a hug would be very welcome and comforting. And yes, our little group *does* look after one another. For that I am ever grateful.

We'll raise our glasses to all those who are special to each and every one of us - both here or not.

  7. "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal."

I'm sorry for your loss. And so long as you remember her, she lives on in you and your loved ones.

  8. That's a lovely quote, Eros, and oh, so true!

And I am sorry for your loss as well. I'm so glad that you got to spend time with your mum before she died... saying what you needed and wanted to say to her. That means the world, doesn't it? ~hugs~

So you have something to say about all this, do you?
Well, let's hear it, then!
